Downing a hung NW 4.x or 5.x server

If the server console is hung such as when stopping a problematic Arcserve or other task but the server is still accepting keystrokes then hold down Control, Alt and Shift then press Escape then you should see a prompt asking if you'd like to bring down the server and exit to DOS. Entering Y and pressing Enter will bring the server down gracefully.

Debugger

Alternatively enter the debugger (Alt, both Shift keys then Escape) and enter Q to quit back to DOS.

To return from the debugger to NetWare type g (for go) and press Enter.

Typing .r gives info. on the process running when debug was entered

To recover temporarily from an error such as NMI try dropping into the debugger then typing  EIP=CSleepUntilInterrupt then Enter followed by g and Enter again.

To create an NMI which enters the debugger directly short together the back two pins of an ISA slot!
